Event-History of the Turkey Chase

History of the Turkey Chase

For well over a quarter of a century, the Rotary Club of Bethesda-Chevy Chase and the YMCA of Bethesda-Chevy Chase have partnered to present the Turkey Chase, one of the premiere road races in the Washington Metro area and the largest event of its kind in Montgomery County.

Think of a Thanksgiving filled with family, fond memories, indulgence, good health, and you! Turkey Chase has been celebrated in Bethesda, MD since 1982 with participants from all over the United States – particularly Bethesda and surrounding communities. The event features a 2-mile fun run/walk, a USATF-certified 10K race, and a 1 Mile Challenge Run and a 50-meter Tot Trot, where kids 9 and under chase the elusive mascot.

Turkey Chase is the largest fundraiser for both the YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase and the BCC Rotary, two of the county’s most notable organizations. Over $4.7 million has been raised since the race’s inception to improve the lives of millions of at-risk children and families in our community.
